Academic History

I attended Kingswood College from Pre-primary until grade 12 (from 1995 till 2007). I am currently in my third year at Rhodes University. I am majoring in Journalism and Sociology.

At school I studied Mathematics, English, Afrikaans, Art, Physical Science, and History.

At university I studied History, Psychology, French, and History and Appreciation of Music.

At university I am currently in my third year of Journalism and Media Studies, third year of Sociology, and a course on German.



Job experience

 Waitress at the Rat and Parrot in Grahamstown since the 17th of November 2008.

 Babysitter for Tracy Mills since 2008.

 Administrative work for Michael Moss.

 Internship with Kichaka Game lodge in 2007.

 Various waitressing jobs at “The Wyvern” at Kingswood College. Including waiting on Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, when he visited South Africa in 2006.

 Internship with post production company called “Upstairs Post Production” in Cape Town in 2008.

 Journalist for the Highway Africa journalism conference in 2008, and worked for their daily newspaper “Open Source”.

 Internship with Grocotts Mail in 2008.

 Internship with the Cape Town branch of SABC news in 2009.





Achievements and Awards

 Voted “best matric” by grade eight pupils in my boarding house (Jacques House) in my final year at school.

 President’s award (completed silver level, in the process of completing gold level).

 Senior monitor in boarding house at Kingswood College.

 Sporting Captain of school sport house in grade twelve.

 Head of the fundraising committee for the Integrated Community Development Programme (ICDP) trust in 2006.

 In 2003 I joined the school’s community service programme and visited an old age home on a weekly basis.

 I was a part of the Integrated Community Development Programme (ICDP) trust for three years. In the first year, 2004, I worked on a garden where we grew fresh fruit and vegetables to grow for children in need. In 2005 I started in the fundraising committee to raise funds for the project. In 2006 I headed the fundraising committee, and planned several events as well as starting up a weekly tuck-shop in the junior school to raise funds for the project.

 I have done audio work for Hospice, a foundation that I strongly support.



Languages

 English is my home language.

 I studied Afrikaans all my way through school.

 I did a course on French at university.

 I am doing a course on German at university.

 Growing up on a farm I can speak Xhosa as well.
